Why didn't the pikes kill any ponies? Can someone please explain this.

Pikeman

Attack: 5508
Defense: 127
Speed: 172
Range: 3269

Heavy Cavalry
Life: 2810
Attack: 3068
Defense: 311
Speed: 960
Range: 60

Firstly, the pikes had a better range than the hc lol, so that throws that idea out the window.

lets see anyway.
Ball set range at 3269
Pikes move 336 per round
HC move 960 per round
which gives a combined movement of 1296 per round mmmm doesn't look like this is the reason....
Round 1 they move to 1973 apart
round 2 they move to 677...
round 3, 1296 minus 81 range = 1215, 677/1215 = 0.56, So both move approx 56% of their full movement, giving either side more than enough further movement to get into range if there was any question.

But the simple fact that the Pikes had greater range, should have ensured a normal result or if the range and speed ratio had resulted in the pikes being in range and the hc not, it would have given a result twice as good as normal.

I can't see a reason for this result, either it's a glitch or Kabam have changed stuff again without telling anyone.... shock horror lol

dude, too many variables now to just throw down the stats and run the battle through like you have done, what i said before along with a few others is what has happened , only reason for pikes getting 0 kills on the hc is down to range disadvantage.....btw here is the actual calculations on pike range:

base range = 50
fletch boost = 55% of 50 = 27.5
50 + 27.5 = 77.5 range

base range 50 + 61.5% range boost = 30.75 range

77.5 + 30.75 = *108.25* total range ...... worked out for 11 fletch....obviously if the guy only has 10 fletch this will be lower!!

Dude..... those are the stats from the actual report. I didn't do the maths and hope for the best. Looks like you need to redo your maths ;-)

Also, Fletch does not effect pikes or hc.

Pikes at 50 base plus 61.5% range boost = 80.75 rounded up to 81.0

too used to calc balli/ cat range i guess lol
either way im stumped on it, doesnt bother me as i dont attack hc with pikes, i prefer balli /ram attacks for maximum carnage

So it gets back to what I was saying, its not about being unlucky with the speed/range ratio.

btw, the HC base of 80 less a 25% debuff (being the max debuff) gives the HC 60 range.

Another thing that is interesting/confusing, is that it took 4 rounds.

Then it has something to do with the range/movement glitch. HCs higher speed made them attack earlier (due to this well known glitch)

But one question. If your pikes already outranged the HCs, why you sent the ball?

I'm thinking that since HC have the highest defense in game to start with, and these ones have a 90% bonus added to that, your pikes' first and 2nd hits weren't enough to kill any. On the 2nd hit, the HC get their shot in as well, and must have had you well out numbered, killing all your pike in 1 shot. I can't see any way that you didn't get the first shot with your range bonuses. I don't know the actual mechanics behind how attack/defense/life work into the combat system to say for sure though.

Guys, don't bother spinning your wheels on this one. The report he pasted was obviously doctored. I watch my alliance members make stupid attacks like this one all day long and they kill anywhere from 14k-17k HC every time.

Next time, send Archers and take out 200k HC a pop and you won't be so disappointed in your attack that you have to post tailored reports in indignation and embarrassment.
