    Is this the full report?

I dont see any troops at all killed there..... which is odd because the ballista should have killed something.
Many individuals frequent the battle reports explained section of the forum, giving free advice on how to be a more effective fighter. If one of those individuals gives you advice on how to win a battle, help others out by responding to their advice with the outcome of the battle. The battle system is an ongoing learning process, and each report that is analyzed only furthers the collective knowledge of the community.

Ballistas will kill 0.8 (or 0.4) HCs, due to accuracy, so 1 ball won't kill anything if they target the HCs (and they did).

The pikemen didn't kill anything probably because after 1st round of movement, they were still out of range, while the HCs where already in range.

Check the pikes attack value vs hc defense value. Not sure this is the case but the only thing I can think of.

Also check to see if this range and speed combo cause the hc to be able to attack pikes after moving in the second round but the hc to be out of range of the pikes (similar to attacking without the baly). To find: hc distance = 3Xhc speed, pike distance = baly range - 3Xpike speed. If diference between hc distance and pike distance in less than hc range but more then pike range this is the case.

Without the troops stats its hard to calc out.

done some rough calculations with ur range buffs included and found that their hc and your pikes have a very similar range , i am sure that his hc has a very small range advantage over you as you killed nothing, whats happening is actually mostly down to bad luck, after 3 rounds of both troops moving towards each other based on starting range/ troops speed ... u have landed in that small window where he can attack and you cannot as you have less range. my advice is to change ur range or combat speed by upgrading and that should work.

Or, try sending 1 archer instead of the 1 ball, your ballista set the starting range of combat, your archer will do the same, but at a closer distance, your pike will then have to march less to get into combat, but as Stevie says, you landed in a small window and there is no knowing without trying if it will happen with an archer either lol

this happened to one of my friends as well on another domain. You got unlucky and hit one of the rare scenarios where your pike and HC move forward, yet his HC are in range of your pike and your pike are still out of range of his HC. My friend shut off his throne room and had no issues.

You got stuck in an unfortunate range/speed spot.

    As a suggestion,

Instead of running out the math on all the variables of range and speed buffs(which you can do also) test with a smaller batch of troops, in this case 1 balli+10k pike or something similar, to see if you will kill anything.

You are not the first to have this happen too, and it will save people some troops in the long run.
