Not entirely sure, it could be because the archers and ballista are both ranged units. As i read it the defending ballista would have fired while the archers and ballista were at optimal range for the projectiles, killing them all before the HC wanted to charge.

I will say that the attackers seem to have had a good result, claiming 6k+ defending ballista for 15k archer and 1.6k ballista.

the ballista will start fireing when in range of the targets, were the HC well run in using there defences to stop some archers hurting them, thus then the ballista you have killing there ballista as the amount you have sent in over what was there, and theballista will also be killing archers, and the HC would run right in and kill the few thats left. if any was with the amount of ballista attacking

but looking at the attack you sent in, you have sent in 175k troops on 1 march? when the max is 125k, so not sure how that happend, unless it was 2 attacks times to land around the same time if so, then you will find the ballista would have landed 1st then the HC 2nd, so no troops for the HC to attack

What the fletch level and does the defender have xbows ?

Because normally given same fletch level and no xbows, the defending balista would not take such heavy losses.

    Answer to #2

Only way that battle could have happened that way is if the attacker had higher fletching then the defender.
    ballista attacked the defending ballista.
They all move attacking ballista and archers attacked ballista..
    Defending Ballista wiped them out.
    Cheer

Equal fletching levels you would have only taken out 1600 ballista as ballista with equal battle techs trade 1 for 1. The remaining ballista not firing on your ballista would have hit the archers, and those are one hit kills with no losses to the ballista from the archers. Tech levels must NOT have been equal. Or there is a new glitch in the system. Have you scouted this player to see what their tech levels are, cause that is the only certainty that they have the same fletching level as you.

Your archers wouldn't have fired on the defending Heavy Cavalry versus because like units attack like units first if in range. So your archers would have been concerned about the defending ballista, and not the heavy cavalry. Your attack actually did more damage to them than to yourself, as archers are easily replaced whereas ballista are not.
