I wouldn't say large amounts, but yeah, you kinda described me. I came to this game to review and ended up staying. I've worked really hard and probably spent more than I should, but have gained power steadily. And suddenly, what should have been a fairly respectable power is just minuscule. My realm was dramatically affected by this and yes, plenty of players have left. Others are starting over in realms less affected by it. Some - those Kenny described, the biggest ruby players - are just plain giving away their excess of troops and leaving the game.
I think everyone needs to quit their b*#$*ing... For god's sake if you don't log on to DoA for a day or two and miss a challenge, who's fault is that? Yours. If you don't buy rubies and build 30k titans, who's fault is that? Yours. If people log on every day and buy rubies to complete this challenge, who's fault is it? Theirs. Who should be rewarded? Them. -- You wouldn't be complaining if you got rewarded with these troops. Besides, you're acting like they got outstanding troops. It was all Battle Dragons, Giants, Packs, and Granite Ogres for gods' sake. Sure, they can now afford to send 200k BD's or 200k Packs without fear of losing them, but 200k BD's/Packs are VERY easily defeated. None of these troops are very strong, only Giants and GO's are - and only if they're mixed properly with other troops. They can only send so many in any given march for them to be effective. If they have enough other special troops for the 1 million extra Giants and Ogres to be useful, trust me they already had enough Giants and Ogres in the first place. Just getting hundreds of thousands of Giants/Ogres isn't going to do anything without getting the other troops as well. Just calm the hell down, take a breath, and think about it. All they really got is a lot of fodder, a good defense, and power. If you don't want to hit these people, don't - no one is making you.
Now that I have that out of the way, I would like to say..
Great challenge Kabam, I only wish I had the rubies to buy some seeds at the time of the challenge. I can't wait for future challenges, whether I can take part or not. Oh, and good job fixing all the glitches recently, myself and many others were getting very frustrated, but now is back to normal. Keep up the good work guys!
Ben, I agree in almost every way... Except 1. You assume its no big deal in attack mode. And I agree, 200k of whatever they got is defendable. BUT, How would you attack a player who has millions of giants, bd's etc. etc. You cann't, without risking alot. My point is mearly that de impact of the contest is too large. That ruby players get awarded for their effort. Well, that can be understood. Kabam is a commercial company. ;-) But did Kabam make a mistake by rewarding them that much? I think they did... I am, for over a year, playing this game, also spending money on rubies. I think that if you can double your power by a contest, where you took a year for to build it. The contest has a flaw.
And now with the wraith contest, the titan challenge winners will win more... They can defend those WD easily... While some other first have to do the math before they possibly can.... :-P
So, yes I agree, its not the fault of the ruby players (they didnt even made this contest up, so why should they???).
But did kabam ruin the game by awarding that much?
In my opinion... They certainly did....
I think that since I personally have put over 2k into this game and over 15 months of hard play and building I am entitled to do a bit of b***hing if I choose to. My complaint is not against those who took advantage of the contest, They spent their rubies and entitled to the reward as advertised. My issue with this contests reside totally with Kabam and their conduct of it, it was a very flawed contest build 12 troops and recieve 5k other troops as a reward if Kabam could not tell that was going to destroy any semblance of game balance they shouldnt be a game company.
During this contest most of the servers were having major issues so resources could not be gathered to build with even if some folks had of bought the Titan seedlings they still could not have built them. I while have spent in the past definitely was not going to spend during the time frame of the contest because the game was so glitchy with limited marches and only being able to attack anthro camps.
Also some players were rewarded for building the titans when all they did was buy the seedlings, which is another flaw in the contest.
In my main realm I went from being ranked in the top 10 in power and about 60 million behind the largest player to ranked some where in the top 30 maybe and over 1.76 billion yes that is billion behind the biggest player , who purchased and built 280k titans so your looking at 45 million Giants, 45 million Ogres, 45 million Pack Dragons and 90 million Battle Dragons awarded. So now in my main realm there are 2 players of 1.7 billion power while no one else in the realm is over 100 million and of course the two players who are 1.7 billion are in the same alliance, so the entire rest of the realm is screwed. No one is looking to defend against 15 marches of 200k giants none in the realm is capable of surviving it.
I will will repeat again the folks that were able to take advantage of the contest that is their right, rubies, and good old cash so good for them that is their business.
My issue is with the term of the contest itself and the fact that it took place during an extremely glitchy period of the game.
Right now Kabam is running a Wraith challenge contest while the game is glitchy as all heck again it makes no sense , players cant build in their ops they map and display for the game is all messed up and your troops may or may not come back from a march all the while kabam is running a contest. Get it together Kabam dont have contest while the game is messed up and in some cases unplayable for many players.

Yeah because that's how reviews are supposed to be done. It's very very very rare for any gaming magazine or web site to rescind any sort of score. The only time a different score may be posted is if the game is being evaluated on a different system.
Besides, did I say I wanted them to do a review? No. I said they were going to work on a story. Most recent story they have that is just about Kabam is from Feb 2012. While gamezebo is certainly not ranked as one of the best game reporting web sites out there, gaming journalism is pretty funny when it comes to a good story. If one guy does it, they all do it.
