What is the point of alliances?

Ok so I play KoC and when I first saw this I thought 'great! KoC only better!' However as I am getting into the game I can't see any point of the alliance function. so far as I can tell you cannot assist fellow alliance members in anyway, you can't reinforce or transport to them, can't get help with builds and you can't gift or get bonuses from visiting them. I also cannot find a way to find a players info - such as their power or their fb name (the latter only because my alliance is solely made of existing friends and we want to keep it that way) so I can't check who is sending requests to join my alliance. And as there is no compose feature in messages I have no way to ask them directly without watching for 24 hous a day to see if they come on. I do understand that they are different games, but I was also wondering if I was just missing something or if there are any plans to incomporate some of the basic game features/structures as seen in KoC?

    Thanks

The main purpose of alliances is to deter others from attacking you because they know hitting you will cause them to become targets of your alliance. Its a safety in numbers mentality.

Alliances are also there to help you with info and strategies to get ahead in the game as well as good peeps to chat with. You can, hopefully, find an alliance that has active players you get along with to add the social benefit to your gaming experience.

As the game progresses and devs add more features, we should be able to get more info on our alliance mates and be able to better interact with them. But until then we just have to be patient.

To compare the features of KoC (the oldest FB game of this type) to the features of DoA (one of the newest) is like comparing the basketball experience of Michael Jordan to that of my 6th grader nephew. Point is, you cant expect a game fresh out of beta to have all the bells and whistles of long standing games. Besides, KoC sucks hard so why would we want to make DoA more like it?

Not really the issue here, but KoC is still "Beta" as well.

KoC and DoA will always say beta, even after 10 years. They where not developed by Facebook. Zynga has a deal with Facebook and Facebook developers also help with some Zynga games.
