Thread: City Planning!

  1. #101

    In RED;
    You will see there are 3 cottages near the castle where at night, resting soldiers are awaken by the sound of sirens on impending attacks and can quickly man the castle. With the sleepless nights in Camelot, it helps to be close to your post.

    In YELLOW;
    You have our industrial area that provides a further barrier inside the perimeter of our walls for additional protection of our valuable resources stockpiled in the castle.

    In BLUE;
    3 additional cottages line across the center of town, conveniently located by the knights hall. This is the upper side of town and there is a wait list to get in.
    Location! Location! Location!

    In BLACK;
    The barracks flood the city. This is where the best of the best fighters are born and the weak are weeded out. The enemy will need to get through them before they can attempt to reach the castle. The castle is located in the rear as a safeguard, shhh.... it's where all of the gold is.

    Hey folks. These are looking great so far. Sounds like there's been some confusion regarding how exactly to load a photo. Please refer to the original posting for a brief description on how to do this. Remember, submission that fail to clearly post their player name and domain will be disqualified.

And exactly how is it that your Watch Tower is able to spot an attack 20 miles away from deep in the heart of your city?

    We here on the KoC team would like to see these questions answered. That’s why we’re announcing the first official Kingdoms of Camelot City Planning Contest right here on the forums! Starting today August 18th, through Saturday August 25th, players can post screenshots of their most creative City build. Maybe you like to keep you Tavern nice and far from the stables, because let’s admit, the smell may keep away the patrons.

    Post a screenshot of your best City Plan along with a brief description of why it was organized that way. The top 5 entries will be selected by the Kingdoms of Camelot Team, and posted here on the Forums. After the top 5 entries are selected, players will be able to vote on the Grand Prize winner.

    Each entry will receive 3 Lucky Tokens.
    The top 5 players will receive all City Deeds
    The Grand Prize winner will receive all the City Deeds a Divine Providence and a Sacred Providence!

    Be sure your Player Name and Domain is clearly visible in your submission. Any submissions that fail to include a Player Name and Domain will be disqualified. The deadline for submissions is 11:59 PM PST on Saturday August 25th.

    The top 5 entries will be selected and posted on Monday August 27th. Players will vote on a grand prize winner until Tuesday August 28th. Prizes will be awarded on Wednesday August 29th. Happy planning!

    ***Update

    To upload a photo onto the forums you will have to use a third party photo hosting site such as Imgur. Take a screen shot of the city you'd like to submit, and upload the file from your computer onto www.imgur.com. After that, enter the BBB code provided. Your photo will appear after you save your message.

    Cool!
    Are they testing stuff on your domain?

    How'd you get the chat on the right side?
    What's a "Next Refresh in: 16m 24s"?
    What are those little numbered icons above the Alliance & Global tabs?
    How'd you get the blue tabs at the very top? The "Stop Raids" and "Resume Raids" button would come in handy sometimes.

    I have a profile on 298, but haven't logged in there in ages... How long have you guys been testing this stuff? Are they planning on releasing it anytime soon?
    If you don't like what I have to say, please comment in the box provided here → □. (Write legibly).

    My Superior City

    So here's the basic layout idea:
    Watch Tower close to the entrance to provide a quick warning to the soldiers manning the wall defenses.
    Rally Point also close to the gate, in my hopes to increase my march speed.
    No tavern. Nobody likes drunk soldiers.
    Embassy on the far side, away from all the havoc in my cottages. This building is normally empty anyways (Which is why I have yet to finish building it).
    No market, because I'm a rebel.
    6 cottages so I can still have a decent sized queue while I'm away.
    Blacksmith/Stable only to the appropriate level needed for the current troops I am training, to maximize training speed.
    Knight's hall in the center of the town. Kind of like a city square, with all of my leaders in the Knights hall. It is filled with 50 knights all named 'bob'.
    Relief Station below the Knight's Hall, so orders can be barked easily on where to send reinforcements/resources.
    Workshop near the Blacksmith and Stable. I like to group those since they are all a requirement for some troops.
    Stable near the blacksmith so my horses can easily have their horse-shoes repaired.
    Barracks scattered all about because I got bored of orangizing.
    No Guardian because they're big and scary.

    The Knight Hall is by the Fountain, cause it just seemed right. The cottages are in a checker pattern, for aesthetics. The workshop is by the wall to add layers. The tower and rally point are both next to the gate for optimum visibility and troop deployment. The relief station is behind the rally point since it also effects troop missions. The Alchemy Lab and storehouse are far from the gate, for less accessibility by invading forces. The Embassy is next to the Castle as it houses friendly guests. Barracks are all over the town, for quick troop response in times of trouble. The Stable is near the gate for quick access by cavalry units. The Blacksmith is next to the main street for the convenience of troops in need of armour and weapons repair.

    In the field I like to group the mines over to the north east, The Farms in the Southwest, to catch sunlight for the crops. The quarries are up on the hill mostly, and only one sawmill is needed due to barbarian generosity.
