    Population

I need to understand the popation better. In my castle under production it says my population is 1700, however i can not train any one because it says my popation is -102 in the training area. Why is there this seemingly contradiction? I up graded my cottage to fix the negative popation which also added to the population shown in the castle. Any insight would be appreciated.

    Thanks

There are three values associated with Population. Population Limit which is the sum of all your cottages. It is the maximum your population can be. Then you have Population witch is effected by Tax. So if you had a Population Limit of 20000 and a Tax of 50% then your Population would be only 10000. Finally you have Idle Population which is you Population minus all the workers required for your resources fields. You Idle Population is used to determine how many troops you can train at once.

So basically you have set your tax too high, built too many resource fields (farms, sawmills, quarries or mines), or not built enough cottages. Upgrade some cottage and you should be good to go
