Since it got cheaper to upgrade and research everything, I'm stuck with over 100m of Energy and can;t do anything with it.

Give it to the people attacking you and let them worry about it
We're all having that problem so we'll just have to wait what kabam can think off next to do with it.

Count yourself lucky that it is only energy you have enough of.
I use resources as a1 attack punishment!
.. but you are right, Rich, thinking back to the days where a CC upgrade was something the whole alliance had to agree on and gather resources for, it's a shame to see (50+25+12.5+6.75) 94.25M of each resource disappear in 4 attacks. On the other hand, you go giddy when you score those quantities in a 5 minute boost, right?
The new Kabam feature - resource conversion will fix this problem.
I do conversion into Crystall and Gas to upgrade on the map.
